Home and Center Day Care Licensure Training Courses Bridgeport Hospital’s Emergency Care Institute (ECI) provides training programs in Heartsaver Adult, Child and Infant CPR, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid & Safety and the Administration of Medication. All classes are held at Bridgeport Hospital or at a day care site by arrangement.

Heartsaver CPR - 2 year Certification (All CPR classes include AED) This three hour program, with training in the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), will teach you how to handle a sudden cardiac arrest and how to perform the Heimlich (anti-choking) Maneuver.  It is designed to train physical trainers, coaches, camp counselors, day care personnel and employees who have AED on site and have the duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibility or regulatory requirements.  Individuals successfully completing this program will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED card.

BLS-Healthcare Provider is specifically designed for those entering or practicing in a field related to medicine. This course can be taken for initial certification or as a renewal to fulfill the HCP CPR requirement for nursing school as well as for healthcare professionals. BLS is completed in one 4 hour class at Bridgeport Hospital or at your site by arrangement.

Online Skills Verification HCP Part ll, ACLS Parts ll & lll, PALS Part ll
By arrangement, we can test and certify the skills of a candidate who has already completed the online portion at the AHA website.  For more information, call the EMS department at (203) 384-4497.

Full and part-time clinical pastoral education programs for clergy and qualified lay people are offered twice a year by the Department of Pastoral Care. These nationally accredited courses include direct experience in hospital ministry combined with personal reflections and small-group learning.
